Pelargòs è la cicogna, volatile simbolo della migrazione per antonomasia. Il pennuto era associato in antico ai Pelargi, popolo al quale la tradizione attribuiva la costruzione del più antico circuito murario dell’acropoli di Atene. Nella prospettiva degli studi sulle migrazioni e le colonizzazioni, muovendo dai più recenti risultati della ricerca storico-archeologica, questa Rivista di Studi sul Mondo Classico intende sollecitare la riflessione e il dibattito sulla storia millenaria del Mediterraneo antico.

 

Pelargòs means stork, a bird which more than any other is the perfect symbol of migration. This bird has been associated since ancient times with the Pelargi, a people to whom tradition has attributed the construction of the oldest circle of walls around the Athenian Acropolis. This Journal of Studies of the Classical World will encourage debate around the millenary history of the ancient Mediterranean by investigating the most recent results of historical-archaeological research from the perspective of migration and colonisation studies.
